Sarah Darling, violist and baroque violinist, enjoys a diverse musical
career that spans many centuries and styles. Sarah studied at Harvard,
Juilliard, Amsterdam, and Freiburg (as a recipient of the Beebe, Paine, and
DAAD grants), and is currently in the doctoral program at New England
Conservatory with Kim Kashkashian. She is the the director
of the Arcturus Chamber Ensemble, concertmaster and assistant director of the
Bodky award-winning Harvard Baroque Chamber Orchestra, and a member of the
Rosetta Trio, Musicians of the Old Post Road, La Donna Musicale,
Cambridge Concentus, the
Callithumpian Consort, Emmanuel Music, the Rhode Island Philharmonic,
Boston Ballet, and the self-conducted chamber orchestra A Far Cry.
Sarah has performed in the Ravinia,
Lucerne, Norfolk, Sarasota, and Yellow Barn festivals, and has
collaborated with members of the Juilliard, Takacs, Borromeo, Ying,
Orion, and Cleveland quartets. She is the winner of the NEC, Harvard
Bach Society, GBYSO, Arlington, Marlboro, and Freiburg concerto
competitions. Sarah has been praised for her “excellent
solos” (Boston Globe), “absolute concentration and astonishing
precision” (Badischer Zeitung), “sympathy and spirit” (Hub Review) and
“agility in coaxing a variety of grunts, groans, and creaks from the
