Justin Godoy’s recorder playing has been praised as “sublime” (Washington Post) with “nimble articulation, technical bravura and range of expressive nuance” (Baltimore Sun). In 2006 Justin Godoy and Joseph Gascho founded the early music ensemble Harmonious blacksmith, which has performed in many festivals and concert series including Dumbarton Oaks, the Indianapolis Early Music Festival, National Gallery of Art, Magnolia Baroque Festival, The Embassy Series, and the Washington Early Music Festival. As a winner of the Frank Huntington Beebe Grant, Justin spent two years performing, teaching, and studying in Holland. Justin studied recorder with Heiko ter Schegget, Saskia Coolen, and Gwyn Roberts, and composition with Nicholas Maw. He is president of the Boston Recorder Society.
